Weather: Rain with more rain and some wind!
Boat: St. Herman
Took the normal tour route- out of Auke Bay up to Ben. Island where the Stellar Sea Lions are commonly seen laying about or fighting on the rocky shore. Today we also saw an adult Bald Eagle feeding on what looked to be a dead Stellar Sea Lion juvenile. The Eagle was ripping away at the flesh... and there were several other Eagles including one juvenile (patchy brown and white plumage) lurking about trying to get a piece of the action. It really empathized the fact that Eagles are scavengers and would rather not work too hard for their food. The dead stellar sea lion was probable crushed and killed by some bulls (much larger and aggressive). They may have "run it over" while fighting other bulls or just on their way to the water. Of course there are many ways it could of died but that is my theory- The Eagle was not responsible for its death!
We also saw 4 Humpback whales feeding around Shelter Island- 2 shallow feeding and 2 fluking.
The tour went 30mins over its normal duration so we could see a few more "whales tails"...

Yay pictures! You added another day to your last post after I had made my comment. Great pics of the Orca and the rainbow. Seeing those snow covered mountains is nice... we've already had a few days over 100 down here :( That's too bad about that baby sea lion and right after I was talking bad about them.
